Sewer Rates

Sewer charges include local sewer charges and charges from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD).

MMSD Charges

MMSD charges help fund regional wastewater treatment and sewer services.

Local Sewer Charges

Local sewer charges help maintain Wauwatosa’s sanitary sewer system. Charges are calculated quarterly based on water usage.

Stormwater Rates

Effective February 1, 2026

The stormwater charge helps maintain Wauwatosa’s storm sewer system.

The quarterly rate is $35.63 per equivalent residential unit (ERU).

An ERU is a standard unit used to calculate stormwater charges based on the amount of impervious surface on a property, such as roofs, driveways, parking areas, and other paved surfaces.

Understanding Rate Changes

Utility rates may change to support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of water and sewer infrastructure.

Local sewer rates are established by the City of Wauwatosa. MMSD rates are established separately and are passed to Wauwatosa utility customers.
