Fire Station Tours

Fire station tours can only be reserved for schools or established community groups.  Group tours will only be conducted with an appointment.  Please see below for details on reserving a tour time.

  • Appointments can be requested between 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Fire station tours last roughly 15 to 30 minutes and are conducted by on duty firefighters. This may result in tours being cut short or canceled with little or no notice if an emergency call arises.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the station during the tours.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the station.
  • No meetings or birthday parties are permitted in the fire station.

Members of the public can stop by any of our fire stations at any time and request a tour from the on-duty firefighters, however it will be limited to one family at a time and any children must have their parent or guardian present.

Fire Safety Presentations for Schools

Classroom fire safety presentations consist of one of the Fire Department’s administrative team coming in and giving a short fire safety presentation inside of the classroom.  These presentations consist of going over fire safety plans and what to do in the event of a fire. These presentations generally last between 15 to 30 minutes. We do not conduct firefighter or fire truck visits, tours, or displays as a part of these presentations.

Wauwatosa School District schools must coordinate these through their School Safety Coordinator or Principal.  A sign-up link will be sent out at the beginning of the school year.  Fire Safety presentations will only be provided for 3rd Grade classes for the time being.  If you have any questions please reach out to [email protected].

Hands-Only CPR or Fire Extinguisher Training

Hands-only CPR is a public awareness campaign set up by the American Heart Association for CPR. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice on a CPR mannequin and will be given tips on how to effectively do the steps listed for hands-only CPR.

This presentation is for information only and participants do not receive any certification for taking this class. If you need certification or official training for CPR, first aid, or AED usage you must reach out to the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association to sign up for a certified class. Also, please note that hands only CPR cannot be used on children, it can only be used on adults and teens. The presentation is not meant for children and will only be conducted for adults or teens.

Within this program we can also teach you how to use a fire extinguisher or an A.E.D. using props or our virtual reality headset.

Residential Lock Box Program

A lock box may reduce the amount of time for emergency responders to enter your home. In an emergency, the dispatcher will notify first responders that there is a lock box on your home. Only the Fire Department has keys to open the lock boxes. No one else can use the box to access your home, not even you. Contact us to purchase a box.

Please note, if you rent we will need permission from your landlord to install a lock box.

Smoke Alarm Program

The Wauwatosa Fire Department receives donations from community organizations to install smoke alarms in your home under specific circumstances. If you are interested please fill out the below form to see if you qualify.

Please note, that we only install smoke alarms in single family owner occupied homes within Wauwatosa city limits. We cannot install smoke alarms in a rental property. If you rent, your landlord is required to provide you with smoke alarms.
