Certificate of Occupancy Permit

Certificate of Occupancy Permit

A Certificate of Occupancy confirms that a building or space is approved for its intended use and meets applicable health and safety requirements. An occupancy permit is required before occupying a new residential building and for commercial properties when there is a new building, addition, change of use, change of business or tenant, or change of ownership.

Additional occupancy requirements may apply to properties located within a regulated floodplain.

How to Apply

Occupancy permit applications can be submitted through our  self-service portal. Follow the prompts to complete your application and provide the required information.

You can also use the portal to track the status of your application and make payments online. If additional information or documents are needed, you will be contacted during the review process.

Fees

Occupancy permit fees are based on the square footage of the space.

Final fees are determined during the application and review process. You can also use the Self Service Portal Fee Estimator to estimate your permit fee.
