Improvements Coming to Center Street
- The driveway closest to Eisenhower Elementary School will be realigned with 116th Street.
- Pedestrian improvements include bump outs at the crosswalks, sidewalks, and a multi-use path.
- A median will be installed near Wauwatosa West High School.
- Dedicated bike lanes will be added from 118th Street to 111th Street.
Weather permitting, the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of August, ahead of the 2026-2027 school year.
Project Update: July 16, 2026:
Phase 1 is now complete, opening the Eisenhower Elementary School driveway entrance. Center Street is now open from 118th Street to 116th Street.
Phase 2 began Thursday, July 16, closing the driveway to Wauwatosa West High School. West’s driveway will remain closed through the end of the project. We anticipate project completion in early August.
Traffic Impacts:
Summer school students and families will continue to have access through Eisenhower Elementary’s
new driveway entrance.
Access from the East: 114 Street ⟶ Clarke Street ⟶ 116 Street to the Eisenhower driveway
Access from the West: 124th Street ⟶ Center Street ⟶ 116th Street to the Eisenhower driveway
Center Street is closed from 116th h Street to 114th Street. During the road closure, on-street parking will be removed from Center Street.
