Safe Routes to School is a national program that aims to make it safer for students to walk and bike to school. Our Safe Routes to School program focuses on walking to school. This program is a partnership between:
- The City of Wauwatosa
- Wauwatosa School District
- Private schools
- Community groups
- Families
This program includes evaluation of routes to these schools utilizing a Geographic Information System (GIS) in order to determine:
- Optimal routes to school
- Areas for potential physical improvements
- Locations to utilize crossing guards
