We wanted to share an update as construction on Watertown Plank Road prepares to resume March 18, 2026, dependent on weather.
At first, residents and drivers may only notice light traffic control as crews mobilize and prepare the work zone. The contractor will begin where work paused last year, focusing on the southern half of Watertown Plank Road.
Crews will also complete remaining work on 116th Street, including restoration as well as sidewalk and driveway installation. The east half of the roadway (northbound side) will be closed for sidewalk, driveway, and restoration work while southbound traffic remains open. Later, 116th Street will need to be fully closed for the installation of the perpendicular trench drain – for approximately two weeks.
Traffic impacts
Through mid to late April, Watertown Plank Road will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction through the construction area.
Later, the project will move into a new phase that requires a full closure of Watertown Plank Road between approximately 116th Street and 124th Street.
In addition, 115th Street will also be fully closed for a period of time after school ends, to allow for road reconstruction and work by the railroad company.
Project timeline
The overall goal is to complete the Watertown Plank Road reconstruction project by late summer 2026.
We’ll continue to share updates as the project progresses and appreciate everyone’s patience while this work is completed.
